Frequently Asked Questions

We do not collect information upon users and store them in cookies. In fact, we collect no information on a user without their knowledge or consent.

We do assign a user a user id to be used in navigating from page to page on our site but that id is removed/destroyed upon closing the browser or using the LOGOUT link. 

User data that is collected and stored in a database as you supply is the following:

Email Address - Kept private but used in permitted contact with you as necessary. 

Password - Kept private but we recommend it being unique and not the same you use for other websites.

Display Name - Your choice so as to be anonymous.

Birth Date - Kept private and used only to protect, as best as possible, minors that may use this site.

Time Zone - Kept private but helps display dates and time in your area as opposed to Greenwich time.

About - Information you want other users to see.

 Nothing!

 Costs are only associated with advertisers. 

Although we are trying to maintain a free and fair environment for all opinions to be expressed including lies, deceptions, untruths, political preferences, etc., there are limitations, for instance, none of the following will be acceptable:

• Plans and conversation to cause harm to another or even death
• Plans and conversation for destruction using devices
• Illegal activity not limited to but inclusive of trafficking, illegal substance exchanges, etc.
• As that which is deemed to be subject to action by reasonable understanding but not listed above and is reserved to the discretion of the System Administrators

Additionally, all content self-policed to be marked as "Age sensitive (not appropriate for minors)" will not appear before minors or guests who visit without logging in. System Administrators may be flagged to check a post lacking such indication by users causing a review, and if deemed to be "Age sensitive (not appropriate for minors)", the status will be changed appropriately but not removed.

Users also reserve the right to delete their own content preventing others from continuing to view it if desired. Readers have the right to hide posts and comments they wish not to view, which does not impact other readers. 

Now, "Age sensitive (not appropriate for minors)" does not mean the acceptance of porn on this site. The indication is a respect to those that do not care to view topics, wordings, and imagery that violate age, religious beliefs, etc. The indicator does not affect ranking when displayed.

We have no agenda or bias but illegal content will not be tolerated. Also, it should be noted that we do not mind standing up to peer pressure either including cancel culture.

We want to encourage real engagement and not bot engagement. While most social medias use algorithms, we use good old human interaction/engagement. 

As for posts and comments, they are ordered by Last One In, First One Displayed. In accounting terms, it would be known as LIFO (Last In, First Out), keeping the most fresh content at the top. 

Most other social media sites may permit free speech but will suppress visibility by burying them through algorithms, attach "fact checkers" that turn out to be part of an agenda or simply other people's opinions in disguise, etc. We truly offer free speech with limited suppression of content (that which is basically illegal is not allowed while difference of opinion is encouraged). 

Some social media sites require friendships to view people's posts while all posts and comments are visible. 

Some social media sites limit the amount of content, maybe not in the number of posts but in the size of the post. 

We also have accountability and stronger protection of minors than most other sites. In fact, many other sites are not so careful what minors are exposed to, and even become suspicious that it is promoted to them. 

As stated: "To celebrate the launch, LoveThemOrHateThem.com is hosting a contest that when the user base reaches 1,000 users, we are willing to provide a cash prize of $500 to the person who is identified as the reason users have registered and engaged in conversation (details on the website). This event has kicked off and are open to the public, inviting users to participate in the discussions and contribute their own viewpoints."

Overview:

No hiding things... we hope this will increase our membership rapidly. The idea is that you create an account and tell others about the website. To reward the top membership connections, we are willing to provide $500 to the top person gaining members. We hope there will be no bots or other fake methods used. We will attempt to verify all the accounts as best as we can beyond the simple registration method. Now, this cannot drag out forever as we plan on having another contest afterwards in similar fashion, so the deadline we set for the first 1,000 membership goal is November 30, 2024 (Thanksgiving weekend on purpose in hopes we have something to celebrate in thanksgiving). If we do not hit 1,000 members by then, the contest ends without a winner. On the day we hit 1,000 members, the contest also ends but with a winner.

To view your standing on a regular basis, go to the Contest Page for you to view and keep an eye on things to make sure there is no behind the scene trickery. We shall be honest and upfront on our part. We hope you will be on your part as well. 

Process:

1. Sign up for an account and verify it.
2. Tell others to sign up for an account.
3. Tell them once their account is verified that they need to go to their settings page (Settings).
4. Go to the place where it says, "Referred By:"
5. Have them pick your display name.
6. Then tell them to make at least 3 posts (or comments on posts) between now and the end of the contest. This helps a little bit towards verifying that they are a real person or not. We will be using other methods along the way as well for verification, but this is a start. And no, copying and pasting Latin phrases as a post is not acceptable. 
   

Other Rules:

1. Must be a United States citizen as the award will be given in US dollars and mailed to a US address. 
2. Not valid in states that forbid this, though it is not a lottery or anything like that, it is simply an award for your effort, it still may be regulated in a manner that we are unaware of. 

Administrator Topics - Topics controlled by the administrator so as to make sure non-logged in users, guests, and especially minors do not see inappropriate material. 

User Topics - Topics created by users for the public to view and interact upon.

Private Topics - Topics created by the users visible only by invitation. 

Pics - Pictures submitted by users for the public to view and interact upon. 

1. Click on the Login/Registration link in the upper right corner.

2. Click on the Register/Create Account link.

3. Complete the form and click the GO! button. Now this creates the account but it will remain inactive until you complete the rest of the steps.

4. An email will be sent to you containing the activate account link.

5. Click the link to confirm your account, and your account will then be activated, which means, you are ready to use it.

Our site offers two controls.

1. Self-policing plus flagging by other users allows us to minimize adult content being exposed to minors. It is expected when a topic, wording, or image that is inappropriate for minors to view that the poster mark the post or comment as "Age sensitive (not appropriate for minors)". The default setting for all adult posts are set for such sensitivity. If the adult fails to police themselves by turning the setting to OFF when they should have left it ON, other members may draw our attention to that post or comment by marking the post or comment as being FLAGGED. 
   
   
   
   
2. On the SETTINGS page, a parent may supply their email address and secretive PIN for accountability. Once a day, a report of all posts and comments made by the minor will be emailed to that designated account. Further, if a minor attempts to remove or change the designated email address and fails to use the proper PIN, an email alert will be sent to the email address supplied for accountability. This is an optional step but one that is highly recommended. 

Though we are expecting adult age mostly (18+), the site does allow minors, preferably at least the age of 13. It is also expected that minors have parental consent to be registered as a user.

With that in mind, we do offer parental controls for those parents that want to be aware of activities of their child.
